Dressed up like Mommy...

So last winter I decided I wanted a bold pair of heels that made a statement with your outfit. So Kelty and I went shoe shopping (she was 18 monthsish). I could not decide between a pair of purple suede heels and these ruby red ones.

So I let Kelty choose which pair I got. She chose the ruby red ones and now they are HER favorite pair of shoes.

The other day I was ready for work and trying to get Kelty out to the car. I came running down the stairs and Kelty saw my choice of shoes that day...the red heels. She excitedly said "Hey those are my shoes! But they are to little for me so you can wear them."

Kids say the darndest things haha. Like I have said many many times before, Kelty is always making us laugh. She always comes up with something and you wonder how a two year-old could have come up with that on her own.

So now I guess I get to wear Kelty's shoes until they fit her.

At the Park

So yesterday was such a nice day outside. I couldn't resist taking my girls to our neighborhood park.

Spring is Coming! "Lets go fly a kite..."

We have started getting cabin fever I think. Matt found Kelty's kite and deciding to take her out for her first kite flying experience. She loved it. She loved throwing the kite up to catch wind and fly. She also thought holding on to the kite while it flew was pretty cool. She was running around and giggling the entire time.

Mom's 50th Birthday Celebration

So my parents turned 50 this year. My dad was in September and we went on Vaca to Lava Hot Springs and surprised dad with a Black Party. We wore black, had black balloons, old man gag gifts, black cake, lots of stuff. So mom was in on that surprise so we knew we had to do something different.

Alexis got this idea to trace our hands and make mom an apron. I think it came from Pinterest, but not sure. Mom really loved this.

So we were pretty good about keeping it a secret. (Some better than others) Mom found out that she was being taken to SLC but she didn't know the plan or who would be there. We all met at the Energy Solutions Arena and surprised mom with Disney on Ice: Toy Story 3. I know this probably wasn't what mom would have picked to do for her birthday, but that she would want us all to be together and she would love seeing how much fun the kids would have. The show was really fun for all of us. Having Aunt Lynn and Nanny there with us made it a lot of fun.

My crazy brother and Kennadee. So excited for the show to start.

Matt & Kelty

Kelty was the most excited to see Mickey and Minnie. Oh! and the Barbies!

Kennadee loved all the lights and music. She just kept dancing and clapping.

St. Patrick's Day

I don't usually do very much for St. Patrick's Day. Usually we just wear green clothes but holidays are so much funner when you have kids and want to be festive.
I found a recipe on Pinterest for Olive Garden style breadsticks. It looked easy enough so I decided to make some for dinner. My awesome little helper Kelty loved rolling out the sticks.

In the oven...mmm mmmm

Then I decided to make it a green dinner, I guess I should have added green to the bread sticks bit I didn't. We had green Parmesan noodles and peas. It was really fun! Kelty was so amazed that we could make green noodles.

Kennadee loved it too! She loves feeding herself so this was a good meal for her. See she cleaned her tray.
YUMMM!

My Kitchen Remodel - part uno

THE BEFORE SHOT
excuse the mess this is when we were moving in and cleaning.
Yes this is my beautiful new born baby, but look at what she is laying on! My new hardwood floors that Matt installed last Spring.
Our kitchen reno started last Spring when Matt found a killer deal on flooring at Lowe's.

We didn't think we were going do the rest of the kitchen for awhile though. This year on Valentines day he found a killer deal on this marble that I LOVE and decided to install a back splash for my Valentines present. (I think he says these projects are for me, but they are really just an excuse for him to buy for toys)

Once we started making the plan for the backsplash and we were talking about doing the counters and cupboards eventually, we realized it would be crazy not to work from the floor up. So doing the cupboards and counters first would be the best. I think Matt finally got tired of me complaining about the counter tops I hated and the boring cabinets.

My Handsome handyman.

Our Garage has been over-taken. For the cabinets, we wanted a real wood look that looked aged and distressed but new. We used a treatment by Rustoleum (yes the spray paint brand) the finish we chose is called "Gingerbread". First we had to paint the cabinets.

Then we had to add the glaze. This is what adds the aged, distressed look. It really makes the wood grain show through.

Our little helper Kelty.

The finished Cabinets! I love them! I have the best hubby in the world. This was a lot of work.

We are currently working on the counters. Matt is enjoying this part though (I think) this is where he gets to play with his new toys.

More pics to come!

February

Kelty has a Go!go!Go! personality. She always makes me laugh.
On this day, Kelty brought her car and Kennadee's car into the kitchen and decided they were both going to ride.
Since Kennadee doesn't quite get the concept of moving her feet to move the car yet, Kelty would go behind her and push her along. They thought it was a blast. I LOVE watching these two play together. They do get into fights though. My parents cursed me when they said they hoped I would have kids that fought just like I did with my siblings. So OKAY mom & dad I SURRENDER! Now help me fix it. haha
This little monkey can be kind of camera shy. I have to get at just the right moment to even have her look at the camera or not try to hide.
I taught Kelty how to make a fort out of blankets. She calls it her cave.
Hiding in the "Cave"
Kennadee "Punk" Thomas - Kennadee's personality is really blossoming! She is such a joy to have in our home. I am so glad she surprised us!!
Kelty is not camera shy at ALL! Sometimes it is hard to get her to let you take a picture though because she wants to take pictures too! I think she may grow up to be a photographer, if she can just figure out how to keep her finger off the lens.
Little Miss Mischievous! She watches everything her sister does and thinks she can do it. On this day, I was in the laundry room just a few feet away, and the girls were playing in the living room with their toys. I thought "No big deal" I could hear them and they were behaving really well so it would be OK to turn my back for a second and do some laundry. I come back in the room and they had taken all of the blankets off of the couch where we like to snuggle and Kennadee had pulled most of the Wii stuff off the shelf and was standing on it to reach the TV. Where did she learn that?
Sometimes the only way I can get Kelty to allow me to get ready is to let her put on make-up. She is so pretty! Matt says she idolizes me, which probably isn't to far fetched. I really have to watch my p's and q's with this little princess diva.
Kennadee's boots finally fit now that is almost no longer boot weather. ugh! haha they are so cute! So this was about the first time she had worn them. She was not sure what to think of wearing shoes. The fact that she has on a headband for more than a split second after I put it on her is a pure miracle! So I had to get a picture.
